BIOGRAPHY
Elguja Amashukeli (1928–2002) was a Georgian sculptor, painter, and graphic artist, best known for monumental works that define the urban and cultural landscape of Georgia.
He graduated from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in 1955, developing a distinctive style characterized by rhythmic forms, monumentality, and expressive movement.
Amashukeli’s practice encompasses both public monuments and studio works, combining national identity with modernist aesthetics.
His iconic sculptures, including major works in Tbilisi, articulate themes of collective memory, heroism, and cultural heritage, reflecting a deep engagement with the dialogue between form and space.
